Buy used bicycle stockholm

Check out the wiki for travel information, tips and recommendations from local Stockholmers! Traveling to Stockholm in June: Where to buy a used bike? I'd then bike around Denmark before selling the bicycle.

How and where can I find more affordable maybe second hand bikes for sale? I was thinking one that passes through Uppsala, Orebro, nearer to Lake Vanern, and on to Gothenburg.

The best place to look for used bikes is Blocket. Cheep new bikes with quality thereafter you can get at biltema. There are a few second hand places, but they mostly sell beaters, perhaps not bikes to get you to gothenburg. Most of them have very bad internet presence, one guy even refused to have a phone number published because there were too many people calling? These are some on the south side of stockholm that I know about.

I just walked over to aw-recycling since I'm looking for a bike too. The guy that runs it is really nice, but you might call to see if they're really open since I'm pretty sure that guy is the only one that works there. I would bring a bike from the US. It would be better than spending your limited time here in Sweden trying to get a bike, you would know it works for the distance you want to ride and carry your gear, and it would probably be cheaper.

I really considered doing that, but I'll be bouncing all over the globe Singapore - Nepal - NYC - Norway before reaching Sweden that I don't know how I'm going to coordinate receiving the bike in Stockholm.

In addition to Blocket try http: Do you know how much it would cost or how to go about it? I looked into checking mine and shipping mine UPS , and it just seemed like way too much money.

Shipping is way expensive, but bringing a bike on a plane is fairly reasonable. Make sure you are comfortable with disassembling it and putting it back together, and confident you can box it well.

Most airlines have a specific rate for bikes which is less than Now to convince them to bring my bike. I've actually got it boxed already. I'm aiming to find as flat a route as possible, through some nice towns and around a nice lake.

How to Buy a Used Road Bike (Update)

I've studied the map: I've got 14 days in Sweden, so I'm not looking for the most direct path, but a route where I can see and experience the most!

No just wanted to know before so I could consider it some more. I haven't done such a trip myself, but it sounds really fun. Have you looked up how long it takes to do the actual cycling though? It's still very beautiful though, but I wouldn't spend a lot of time there, but as it's so close I guess it's up to you.

All in all, I'd say stick to Gothenburg and Stockholm so that you have enough time to get a feel for both of them, and then you'll also have the awesome bike ride in between where you can perhaps stop in some smaller towns. That is very good advice: I've definitely decided to reduce my time in other places to ensure I have enough time through Sweden.

I believe I will have about 4 days in Stockholm and 2 in Gothenburg for sure. Good point about Uppsala: I'll make a game-time decision to skip it or visit haha. Even if not, it's a bit like some kind of christmas I would say, so it might be hard just stumbling upon something, so try to look something up in advance, I'm sure there must be something nice. Uppsala is worth visiting, but due to your time crunch it may not be worth it. Just depends on what you're into. If I was visiting for a short time, I'd probably hit the larger cities mostly.

Uppsala is kind of like a small version of Stockholm without tourists all over. I guess you can say It's got of a more cozy, chill and intimate feel to it compared to Stockholm.
