The essence of the stock market is speculation: The Shenzhen Stock Exchange is conceived as a physical materialization of the virtual stock market: Typically, the base of a building anchors a structure and connects it emphatically to the ground.
In the case of Shenzhen Stock Exchange, the base, as if lifted by the same speculative euphoria that drives the market, has crept up the tower to become a raised podium, defying an architectural convention that has survived millennia into modernity: Rem Koolhaas Rotterdam, founded OMA in together with Elia and Zoe Zenghelis and Madelon Vriesendorp.

Ellen van Loon joined OMA in and has led several award-winning building projects that combine sophisticated design with precise execution. Some of her most significant contributions include the new G-Star Headquarters in Amsterdam ; De Rotterdam, the largest building in the Netherlands ; New Court, the Rothschild Bank headquarters in London ; exterior and interior design for Maggie's Centre near Glasgow ; the Prada Transformer pavilion in Seoul ; Casa da Musica in Porto , winner of the RIBA Award; and the Dutch Embassy in Berlin , winner of the European Union Mies van der Rohe award in Van Loon is currently working on the Factory Manchester, a large performing arts venue for the city; a new building for Brighton College in England; and the home of the Danish Architecture Center in Copenhagen.
Iyad Alsaka joined OMA as a director in and became partner in Before joining OMA, Iyad was director of design and development at Dubai Holding where he was responsible for numerus of projects.

Born in in Syria, Iyad holds a degree in Architectural Engineering from the University of Aleppo. David Gianotten is the Managing Partner-Architect of OMA.
In this role he is responsible for the management, business strategy, and growth of the company worldwide. As partner-in-charge he also oversees design and construction of various projects, including the Taipei Performing Arts Centre, the masterplan of Feyenoord City and the new Stadium Feyenoord, the CIFCO building in Beijing, the Prince Plaza Building in Shenzhen, the KataOMA resort in Bali, and now the New Museum for Western Australia.
While stationed in Hong Kong he was responsible for the in completed Shenzhen Stock Exchange headquarters in Shenzhen, the final stages of the CCTV headquarters in Beijing, and OMA's conceptual masterplan for the West Kowloon Cultural District in Hong Kong. David is also one of the two directors of the recently opened branch office of OMA in Australia.
David joined OMA in , launched OMA's Hong Kong office in , and became partner at OMA in Before joining OMA he was Principal Architect at SeARCH in the Netherlands. David studied architecture and construction technology at the Eindhoven University of Technology, where he is also a professor in the Architecture Design and Engineering department.
In addition to large-scale and complex projects, he has worked on interiors and small-scale structures, including private houses, product design, and temporary structures such as the Prada Transformer in Seoul Current projects in Asia include the Hanwha Galleria Department Store in Seoul, two towers on the former Kai Tak airport in Hong Kong, two high-rise projects in Xiamen and Hangzhou, and the Columbia Circle masterplan, a large-scale preservation project in Shanghai.
He is also leading the design of the Jean Jacques Bosc Bridge in Bordeaux; the construction of the Axel Springer Campus in Berlin and the Parc des Expositions in Toulouse.
